A2 Design Lab team were thrilled by a very exciting news as Lagim got another mention by one of the top news / newspaper publishing corporation, Manila Bulletin. Lagim is featured in the Manila Bulletin Lifestyle section with highlights about its aim to foster relationships and bridge the gap between generations through means of a table-top game. Lagim™ features the Philippines’ most popular folklore characters and mythological entities illustrated in premium hardbound cards with matte printing and gold foil details. The overall design is an art piece that you would appreciate for its craftsmanship and intricate details.

The concept artist behind the illustrations is our very own CEO and Founder – Augusto Ayo who led a team of creatives at A2 Design Lab to create a card game or a brand that would promote and empower original Filipino content and story-telling.

The idea behind Lagim was stirred within the headquarters of A2 Design Lab led by Cara Valdez – Art Director/ Concept Artist, and Aj Noguerra – Head of Design and Strategy/ Lead Game Narrative, a few months before the 2020 quarantine. Driven by A2 Design Lab’s creed, “To empower products and brands with the ability to inspire, enlighten and simplify people’s lives”, the first iteration of Lagim was released and posted on social media. It has received an amount of appreciation and support from most people and that eventually led to the actual development of the card game.

Quarantine did not halt A2’s objective. After seven months of brainstorming and planning on the design, and with the expertise of our Game System Designer, Norbert Bae,  Lagim—a collectible card game based on the Philippine’s folklore and mythology—was born.
